يعتبر العلامة العربي عبدالرحمن ابن خلدون واحداً من أبرز الشخصيات العلمية التي كان لها صدى كبير في مجال علم الاجتماع، بل هو من وضع أسس قيام هذا العلم كنوع جديد من المعرفة من خلال كاتباته وافكاره حول اسس علم الاجتماع، التي شكلت الانطلاقة الاولى لفكرة قيام علم مستقل بذاته مختص بدراسة التجمعات البشرية، ومن هذا المنطلق تمحور هذا البحث حول اسهامات ابن خلدون في علم الاجتماع، من خلال التطرق الى اهم ما قدمه ابن خلدون في مجال تأسيس العلم، بالإضافة الى استعراض اهم إسهاماته في تحديد موضوع علم الاجتماع، ودوره في بروز نظريات علم الاجتماع، وميادين علم الاجتماع ومجالاته، وتهدف الدراسة الى التعرف على اهم اسهامات ابن خلدون في مجال علم الاجتماع، كما تهدف لتسليط الضوء على دوره في بروز علم الاجتماع كعلم مستقل بذاته، وقد تم الاعتماد على استخدام المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، عن طريق جمع المادة العلمية وسردها بشكل منظم وبتسلسل فكري حسب عناصر الموضوع وتفصيلاته، وقد تم تقسيم البحث الى المقدمة التي تتضمن منهجية البحث واهدافه، بالإضافة الى فكرة عن الموضوع، ومن ثم المتن الذي يتضمن عناصر الموضوع، النتائج والتوصيات، واخيرا قائمة المراجع التي تم الاستعانة بها.
